A fine example of the Jones Improved Microscope housed within its original cabinet.
Engraved "Jones. Holborn, London" to the tube. The rectangular pillar which is mounted on box with a drawer. Mounted on the top of pillar is a sliding bar that holds the tube, while on the pillar is mounted the stage and the mirror. The focusing mechanism consists of a rack embedded in the pillar and pinion attached to the stage; this arrangement moves the stage up and down the pillar. The gimballed mirror can also be positioned on the pillar by sliding it up and down.
There are a few accessories included.
Condition is excellent. Mechanically sound with free, smooth movement. Tapered Mahogany cabinet is free from any cracks and splits. Carrying handle, lock and key are present and working.
